- South Harbour is Helsinki's most valuable waterfront area. Due to its central location, cultural values, and the passenger port, it constitutes an essential part of Helsinki's identity.
- The purpose of the competition is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the alternatives and possibilities for this unique planning area.
- The competition is open to everyone and ideally the design groups should have a varied composition of experts and planners in different fields.
- The competition programme has been inspected by the competitions council of the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA)
